Gingham, tartan, black watch, and plaid all take me back to my Prep school days – when Lily Pulitzer and JCrew were what everyone was wearing. I definitely had my fair share of popped collars and polka dots when I was younger, but my style has since evolved away from preppy. While I no longer consider myself a prepster, it is still very much so a part of who I am.
I used to think that it was impossible to wear gingham without looking like I just jumped off the pages of T&C magazine; however, I have come to realize that it is super chic and classic. So, if you are like me, and you want to pull off these fun patterns without looking preppy, just simply pair them with something a bit more edgy and/or trendy. Or maybe you identify with a preppy sense of style and you can pair your gingham with a blazer and your favorite Frye boots. At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter how you wear your gingham, as long as you feel comfortable, beautiful, and confident!
